it's a gas

I didn't actually find this one, but I did take the picture. Found this in the narrow gap between two houses on Golding. I think. It's across the street from St. Joe's Hospital. ANYWAY, I walked right by it and had to be called back by my boyfriend, who pointed it out. True story. Riveting, I'm sure. Anyway, that thing is a natural gas thingamagigger. Also true.

squared

I'd be willing to wager that this is a coffee break left over. Mostly because this is where the smokers hang out, you're usually sheltered from the crazy Germain Street wind in the alley.

discount bin

aaaaand yet ANOTHER grocery store find. Found this one in the DVD discount bin on the way out. Kind of fitting, if you think about it. Two dollar DVDs nobody wants. Post-consumer trash nobody wants. Reunited in a pile of un-glory. It would bring a tear to my eye if it wasn't all so frustrating.

camp day

Hey look, another grocery store find! Found this one on that counter at the end of the organic food section. Nice.

2x2=4

So, I have no idea where this picture was taken. Usually I'm pretty good at remembering, but this one is a mystery to me. Judging by the Horton and A&W debris, my best guess is somewhere along the Boardwalk/Harbour Passage area. Or Rockwood Park. Either way, a picture of trash. And there you go.

nutty

Another grocery store / junk food aisle find. I kind of understand what would motivate someone to bring their coffee into a store. You just went through the drive through, there's still some coffee left in the cup and you don't want to leave it in the car because it's just going to get cold, so you bring it in with you.

What I don't understand, is finishing the coffee two or three aisles in and leaving the empty cup on the closest shelf. Now, to be fair, there are no garbage cans right there. That said, there are garbage cans by the checkout counters, as well as many by the entrance. How hard is it to keep the empty cup in your cart until you walk by a trash bin? Not very. However, I think there's this sort of unconscious thinking behind the action that goes something like this: "Someone is paid to clean up, let them do it." Personally, I feel bad for the poor minimum wage schmuck who has to go through each aisle and nook-and-cranny to look for the garbage lazy people leave behind. But that's just me.

RELATED: was at the self-checkout counter this past weekend (the one by the attendant's desk). There were some hand baskets at the end of the aisle, right next to a very large garbage can, and in the hand basket was a discarded, empty Horton cup. *SIGH* I wish I had my camera.

take a hike

I always wonder what kind of asshole goes on a hike with a coffee in his/her hand. Then, one day, we bumped into a guy, deep in the woods, with a damn coffee. I guess the answer is that kind of asshole. Seriously? You're drinking coffee while hiking? Are you going to hold on to that cup until you come out of the woods? I doubt it. Of course, I have no proof of this - I'm just going by the fact that I always find these peppered along trails. (grrrrr).

Found this one somewhere in Rockwood Park (25 April 09)

Ladies and gentlemen, you are looking at my first THP photo not taken in the city of Saint John, NB. Not only that, it's an out-of-province shot! Imagine my excitement AND disappointment!

I found this one on a side street in downtown Charlottetown, PEI. I must say, that's the only one I saw. Prince Edward Island, as a whole, is the cleanest place I have ever visited. It was awesome. Really. I'm not being sarcastic at all. Prince Edward Island seems like such a nice, pleasant place to live. Good for you for keeping it clean, you guys, good for you.
